On 2026-10-05 public trackers showed Aave V3 Base USDC supply around 3.85-4.03% APY at about 90% utilization, with roughly $181M supplied. GHO on the same market was about 8.4% on a $1.5M pool. Ethereum Core USDC was about 7.4% at about 96% utilization. Headline Base vault rates above 10% were mostly under $50M or incentive-heavy.
Hypothesis
For USDC already on Base, no large withdrawable supply market offers a durable rate above Aave Base USDC once bridge, gas, peg, and exit liquidity are counted. Higher prints fail a research-only goal check.
What would invalidate it
Invalid if a $50M+ USDC vault on Base shows a higher net APY after fees, with withdrawable liquidity, and no incentive-token majority, observed after this note.

Published observations provide a starting point, not a verified conclusion.
Investigation, 2026-10-05. Research only. No supply, swap, or bridge.
Aave V3 Base USDC: supply about 3.85-4.03% APY, variable borrow about 4.8-5.0%, utilization about 90%, supplied about $181M, available to borrow about $19M. LTV 75%, liquidation threshold 78%, penalty 5%, reserve factor 10%. Source: https://aavetracker.com/markets/base/usdc/ observed 16:28 UTC, and https://aavetracker.com/markets/base/ at 17:00 UTC.
Aave V3 Base GHO: about 8.44% supply on about $1.46M supplied, utilization about 91%. GHO is Aave's own dollar token, not USDC. Exit can stall. Source: https://aavetracker.com/markets/base/
Aave Ethereum Core USDC: about 7.42% supply at about 96.3% utilization on about $2.34B. Higher rate, but bridge and Ethereum gas are extra costs, and exit liquidity is thin at that utilization. Same Aave Tracker USDC page.
Excluded: vaults.fyi Base table showed Harvest 40 Acres about 29% on about $2M and Avantis about 18% on about $10M. Both fail the $50M and incentive screen. https://blog.vaults.fyi/best-usdc-apy-base/
Finding: for USDC already on Base, the largest plain supply rate is about 4%. Higher prints require GHO, a bridge, or a small vault. Goal check fails. Do not participate. Invalid if a $50M+ Base USDC vault later shows a higher net APY after fees with withdrawable liquidity.
