UNI value capture after UNIfication: does the fee switch and burn work as claimed?

The question, made explicit

Object of investigation
UNI (Ethereum mainnet; L2 fee chains if live): protocol fees, TokenJar, Firepit burns, growth budget
Observation
Proposal #93 ("UNIfication") passed in December 2025 with 99.9% support (over 125M UNI for, 742 against). Reported effects: protocol fees on V2 and select V3 pools on Ethereum mainnet; 100M UNI burned from the treasury in one transaction around 2025-12-28 04:30 UTC; Labs interface fees set to zero; a 40M UNI growth budget vesting to Uniswap Labs over two years. A February 2026 temp check describes the mechanism. Fees accrue to an immutable TokenJar. A Firepit releaser hands the accumulated tokens to a searcher who pays 4,000 UNI, and that UNI goes to 0xdead. It also proposes extending fees to eight more chains. Totals for fees collected and UNI burned are not stated in these sources.
Hypothesis
Inference to test: UNI now has a live, usage-linked supply sink. Burns occur when the fee pot exceeds the 4,000-UNI cost, so their rate should follow protocol fee volume. Whether net supply falls depends on burn volume versus growth-budget vesting and any other issuance.
What would invalidate it
Firepit or TokenJar addresses that cannot be verified on-chain; no Firepit burns after 2025-12-28; burns that do not track fee accrual (e.g. funded from one address unrelated to fee pots); or growth-budget and other releases exceeding cumulative burns over the same window.

Starting evidence

4

Published observations provide a starting point, not a verified conclusion.

01

Post date. Observation: describes TokenJar (immutable fee sink), Firepit (pays 4,000 UNI to release accumulated fees, UNI sent to 0xdead), an allowlisted V3FeeAdapter, and protocol fee fractions (1/4 of LP fees for the 0.01% and 0.05% tiers, 1/6 for 0.30% and 1%). Proposes extending fees to 8 more chains with a tier-based adapter. L2BEAT supported it; an adapter-address typo was corrected in the thread. Gives no totals for fees or burns. Whether these votes passed or executed is not established by this source.

02

Publication date (time not shown). Observation: 100M UNI burned from the treasury in one transaction around 04:30 UTC on 2025-12-28 (timing attributed to analyst EmberCN; no tx hash given); protocol fees activated on V2 and select V3 pools on Ethereum mainnet; Labs interface fees set to zero; circulating supply about 730M of 1B. Secondary reporting; the tx is to be verified in this research.

03

Read time. Observation from thread excerpts: posted on-chain 2025-12-18 and live for voting 2025-12-19; per a Blockful security review, 40M UNI approved to a UNIVesting contract at 20M a year with 5M claimable from 2026-01-01; Firepit initial burn threshold 4,000 UNI. A commenter states the 100M burn comes from the DAO treasury; no official confirmation in the excerpt read.

04

Published time. Observation: the vote passed with 99.9% support (over 125M UNI for, 742 against); the fee switch redirects part of LP fees to the protocol to buy and burn UNI; Unichain net sequencer fees go to the same system; 100M UNI burn after a two-day timelock; Labs interface, wallet and API fees removed; an annual UNI-funded growth budget. Secondary reporting; no contract addresses given.
